Humane Touch, a voluntary organization working in the Islands have expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd) for the assurance that no student will be deprived of his/her right to pursue higher education due to lack of financial support from the family.
A delegation of Humane Touch led by Shri A Abdul Aziz, President had met the Lt Governor and apprised him of the difficulties faced by meritorious students from poor background in pursuing the MBBS course at ANIIMS due to high fees. The NGO had sought the intervention of the Lt Governor in waiving off the fees for students belonging to Below Poverty Line ( BPL) families.
The Lt Governor told the delegation that its a genuine demand and he immediately issued directions to the concerned authorities and assured that financial support will be arranged for such students.
The delegation congratulated the Lt Governor and A&N Administration for the concerted efforts taken for converting the long cherished dream of the islanders into reality by establishing ANIIMS and ANCOL in the Islands. The medical college will bring qualitative change in the healthcare sector of the Islands.
