Port Blair, July 12: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), yesterday inspected the site where Andaman College and Medical College are coming up. He first visited Andaman College site at Chakkargoan and reviewed the progress of the construction of the college building.
He directed the Chief Engineer (APWD) for a reorientation of the existing building plan and to finalize it by 15th July 2015. He suggested that the hostel building, canteen and class rooms should be designed in such a manner that they face the sea. Simultaneously, plantation of trees should also be undertaken in the college premises, he observed. He further directed the Chief Engineer to complete the college building by March 2017.
Thereafter, the Lt Governor visited the Medical College site and reviewed the progress of the project. He directed the Chief Engineer (APWD) to get the model of the college ready for easy assimilation of the layout of the college. He directed that the Phase-I of the college should start earliest.
Chief Secretary, senior officers of Education, Health and APWD were also present.
