Port Blair, June 24: The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Choudhary, who is on a visit to the Islands met the Hon’ble Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), at Raj Niwas today. A range of crucial issues pertaining to the welfare of the people and development of the Islands were discussed.
The Lt Governor gave a brief presentation about the Islands and the challenges faced by the Administration. He also apprised the Hon’ble Minister on various development initiatives already taken in the Education, Health, Communication, Connectivity, Tourism, Energy and Infrastructure sectors.
The Lt Govenror expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the support extended by the Central Govt. for the development of the Islands.
The Minister said that the Islands hold a special place and assured full support of the Central Govt. for faster progress and development of the Islands.
The Lt Governor has suggested a meeting under MHA for resolving long pending issues.
