Port Blair, Apr 16: The Andaman and Nicobar Police have arrested one person for stealing ATMs cards of two newly recruit police trainee constables and subsequently withdrawing money unauthorisedly.
“On the complaint of two recruit constables undergoing training at Police Training School that their ATM Cards are missing and a total of amount of rupees 31,400 have been withdrawn from their accounts, cases of theft were registered,” S B S Tyagi, the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman said in a press release today.
Following the complaint, a police team led by SHO Stalin NS, HC Biswakarma, HC Sanjay, HC Manoj, HC Paresh, HC Budheswar and HG Sarkar questioned several suspects and zeroed in on one John Richardson, another trainee recruit, who is a friend of both the complainants.
“During interrogation, he admitted that he used to accompany the complainants for withdrawing money from ATM and knew their passwords. Finding an opportunity, he stole the ATM cards and withdrew cash. The ATM cards have been recovered from the possession of the accused,” the SP added.
The accused, Juon Richardson, who belongs to Nicobarese Tribal Community, has been sent to Judicial Custody today.
