Port Blair, June 10: In a move to bring Administration closer to people living in far-flung areas, Miss. V.K. Mariyam Bibi, Adhyaksha, inaugurated the Multipurpose camp organized by Zilla Parishad, South Andaman under its programme “ZILLA PARISHAD AAPKE PAAS-AAPKE SAATH” in association with PRI, Social Welfare, Revenue and Health Departments on 10th June 2015 in the Panchayat Hall Govind Nagar, Havelock to facilitate rural residents in getting old age pension, Widow pension, Destitute Assistance and Disability Assistance etc. PRI Members of Gram Panchayat Shyam Nagar and Govind Nagar actively participated and also gave wide publicity for making the camp beneficial to the rural people. During the camp, necessary guidance in filling up of forms, examinations of requisite documents, medical examination were taken up and 27 Nos. of Old age pension, 01 No. Widow pension, 13 Nos. of Destitute Assistance and 06 Nos. Disability Assistance were sanctioned on the spot wherever conditions were fulfilled, Officers and staff of Zilla Parishad, Health Department, Revenue Department and Social Welfare Department took active part in the camp and helped the people in getting their cases settled/finalized.
This is the second such camp organized by the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman. The first one was organised in early March, 2015.
