PORT BLAIR, JUNE 5: The Governing Body of the Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya (VKZPV), Port Mout, in a meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Ms V.K. Mariyam Bibi, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, decided to take immediate steps to upgrade the Vidyalaya to senior secondary level. The approval of the CBSE for the upgradation was received in the last financial year. The Parishad has, since then, been working to construct the necessary classrooms and the laboratories required for starting the Science stream in the 11th standard.
The commencement of the Science stream at the VKZPV, Portmout would meet a long felt need of the students of the area. Teaching for the 11th standard science stream would be in English, enabling the students to compete well with other students similarly educated. Admissions for the 11th class would commence immediately. While preference would be given to the 10th class pass outs of the VKZPV, Port Mout, students from other schools would also be admitted. The session would commence in June 2015 along with the reopening of all the schools.
