Port Blair, May 6: The A&N Administration has included six villages in the limits of Municipal Council w.e.f Apr 3, 2015. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary, PBMC on 5th May, 2015 with the PRI Members and with the officials of Urban Development Department, Rural Development Department, Superintending Engineer, PRI/Panchayat and officials of PBMC to discuss the issues related to transfer of services and assets between the PBMC and Panchayats. A number of decisions were taken unanimously in this regard.
Accordingly, the sanitation work of area now included in the PBMC will be handed over by PRIs to PBMC by June 1, 2015 and PBMC will start its services thereafter. Till such time i. e. upto May 31, 2015 this work will be carried out by the respective Panchayats, as per existing arrangement. Respective Pradhan / PRI Members will provide accommodation to PBMC for setting up of site office in these areas.
On completion of the existing Annual Maintenance Contract in respect of the street lights of these areas, the same shall be handed over to PBMC for further upkeep and maintenance.
The on-going works of Panchayat shall be completed before September, 2015 i. e. before the completion of present tenure.
The Building Plans of these areas shall be submitted to PBMC as per PBMC Building Bye-Laws for approval henceforth. No Construction will be allowed without the sanctioned building plan. Plans submitted to the Panchayat before April 3, 2015 will be approved by them, a communication from the Secretary, PBMC said here today.
