Port Blair, May 6: In a memorandum of demands submitted to the Lt. Governor, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, A&N State Unit, has raised the issues of govt. employees and other working classes in the Islands. Some of the demands include abolishing the contract labourer system, publishing the report of the 7th CPC, fixing the minimum wages at Rs. 42,000/-, removing the anomalies of the 6th pay commission, ensuring 5 promotions during the entire service period, removal of ban on recruitment and creation of new posts, and increasing income tax limit to Rs. 5 lakh etc.
The BMS has requested the Lt. Governor to take up the issues with the appropriate authorities for an early settlement of the demands in favour of govt. employees and other working classes in the A & N Islands, a communication received here from the BMS State General Secretary said here.
