KINDNESS is a different language altogether. Some people know it by default while some can be taught. Whereas others don’t follow it no matter how many kind people they meet in their lives.
Yesterday, at around 3.30, my keyboard teacher called me frantically to the backyard of the school premises at RGT Road where we run a humble workshop of keyboards and Guitars.
A little puppy was wounded badly and had unfortunately got its tail entangled in a very long piece of barbed wire. The Pup was bleeding profusely and crying for help. We desperately tried to find the owner, who finally arrived to inform us that the pup was too violent and would bite anyone who went near. Considering the amount of pain and discomfort the little doggy was experiencing, the news didn’t surprise me.
After weighing several options, I called Mrs. Geeta Gladson, who is associated with the NGO Frendicos. I had my apprehensions as post 5 PM, sometimes even we as Humans don’t qualify for emergency treatment unless we pull a few high ended strings… this was after all only a dog, that too perhaps an abandoned one. I explained the condition of the pup to Mrs. Geeta and she promised to return my call. Before I could even consider another alternative, I got a call from her giving me the number of a dog catcher. Also she said a dog catching device needed to be collected from her residence.
The dog catcher Mr. Shekhar with his amazing ability and sensitive approach managed not only to cajole the wounded pup, but also very delicately and pulled out the barbed wire from the pup’s pierced tail.
In the process he got wounded twice by the rusted up wire, leaving room for no doubt that, he needed a tetanus injection immediately; else he himself would suffer a septic.
I salute and congratulate Mrs. Geeta Gladson, the NGO Frendicos and Mr. Shekhar for being so prompt and my sincerest gratitude for saving a life. It feels so beautiful to be a part of this earth when you know there are people who speak the language of kindness. (SAMHITA VEDA ACHARYA, A GRATEFUL ISLANDER)
