Dear Editor,
From the last ten days or so, we are unable to access websites and.nic.in, tender.gov.in & mygov.in from our office at Middle Point. We enquired from NIC and were told that there is no problem at their end and they suggested that we should check with BSNL because the problem must be at their end.
Surprisingly we are able to access these sites on our mobile phone.
We wonder whether these are anything to do with the Govt. of India’s latest directions to compulsorily publishing e-tenders for all purchases valued at Rs. 5 lakhs and above.
Since net connectivity and even mobile serviceability are subject to BSNL’s pleasure, one wonders what the way is out. BSNL is perhaps the only organization in the Country which is permitted to profit from their own inefficiency and negligency. Most users would testify that to complete one conversation, several calls are necessary as the line keeps getting disconnected and BSNL profits from the extra calls may be. The sufferers know that in case you have accessed a website successfully and started downloading a document, the power goes off ……. ….but that is another story.
I have resided in Andaman since 1967. During last 30 years I have heard the head of UT addresses never failed to assure us that the problems of Power Supply and Drinking Water would become history very shortly.
I look forward to hearing the independence day address this year also.
