Port Blair, Mar 23: The Police Department, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has established a repeater station at Pottatang for better connectivity from Jirkatang to Middle Strait.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Radio Section, Mr George Lalu recently said that the Repeater Station has been established to covey messages directly in case of any emergency.
He also said that earlier there was no other way of communication between these areas due to the thick forest, but after setting up a repeater station at Pottatang the police staffs are able to communicate any messages anywhere up to Port Blair with the help of VHF.
“We have worked very hard and put a lot of efforts to acquire 61 square meter of the land from the Forest Department, and with minimum expenditure we have established the repeater station as our own staffs dedicatedly build the repeater station by using sheets, angular, cement etc.,” Mr Lalu added.
