Port Blair, Mar 22: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Rangat organized block level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament Programme on 21/03.2015 at the conference hall of Panchayat Samiti Office, Rangat. The programme was organised under the newly introduced central sector scheme named national young leaders Programme (NYLP) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India. Nearabout 80 youths from the block of Rangat participated in the programme. The programme was started with the welcome address by Shri Alphonce Toppo, Districit Youth Coordinator, NYK, Rangat. The objective of the programme is to create an institutional platform right up to the village level, where the youth can articulate their views on various issues and draw the attention of the local administration to such issues/ concerns affecting their lives and to develop platform of youth clubs further in the shape of vibrant ‘neighborhood youth parliament’ so as to educate the youth club members about contemporary socio-economic development issues confronting local communities in general and the youth in particular and to involve them in debate/ discussions on such issues
In the first session of the programme various resource persons from the departments of Agriculture, Industry, CD block, State Bank of India and other agenies deliberated speech on the topics like Agriculture and allied activities, Skill development and Self employment, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Spirit of Volunterism, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, Drug abuse and alcoholism,etc.
In the second session three participants addressed the gathering about various issues like unemployment, land for youth club building, want of medical diagnosis facilities, and unavailability of playground. Discussion was also held and key decision was taken for recommendation to Administration. The participants also prescribed their role & responsibility for its implementation..
