Port Blair, Apr 10: The Directorate of Tourism in association with Port Blair Municipal Council, ANIIDCO & Directorate of Sports, Arts & Culture and private tourism service providers will be organising a three-day beach festival at Corbyn’s Cove from 20th and 22nd April, 2012.
The festival is organised with a view to popularising beach activities and beach sports amongst tourists and public and intends to provide fun and entertainments for beach lovers. The timing of the festival will be from 3.00 PM to 8.00 PM.
Amongst the beach sport events there will be competitions separately for tourists, tourism trade practitioners and local public, ladies and gents. Tourists and tourism service providers interested to participate in the competitions can register their names with Director (Sports), Netaji Stadium, Port Blair (Ph: 232637, 231463). The sport events mainly include beach Volley Ball, Kabbadi, Tug of War etc.
There will also be competitions in coconut tree climbing and musical chairs etc.
Port Blair Municipal Council will set up food kiosks near the beach mainly to serve sea foods and other delicacies to entice food lovers. Water Sports operators will be providing water sports equipment at discounted rates during the festival.
Coinciding with the events, local orchestra will also provide live music to enthral the gatherings.
