Diglipur, Mar 08: Eight day long relay hunger strike by residents of Nishchintapur demanding construction of bridge between Kalighat and Nishchintapur was withdrawn today. The relay hunger strike was withdrawn following assurances given by the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur, Mr. Arava Gopi Krishna, IAS that a survey for the bridge will start within a week and after survey the further decision will be taken as per the report. The Assistant Commissioner had gone to Kalighat to meet the agitating people today.
