Port Blair, Feb 20: The Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman in consultation with the Tourism Department has constituted two teams viz Diving Safety Supervisory team and Diving Safety Enforcement team to check unsafe and illegal diving operations at Havelock Island.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr Arun, the Deputy Director of Tourism said that the members of these teams are local officers posted at Havelock, the job of Diving safety enforcement team will be to check whether the particular operator is fulfilling and following the diving guidelines which have been notified last year on 2nd April for which a checklist have been issued to both the teams for making regular compliance report to the DC.
The incharge of the Diving safety supervisory team is the DFO, Havelock and the responsibility of the team will be to monitor the work of the Diving safety enforcement team, Mr Gupta added.
