Port Blair, Feb 09:Despite guidelines and repeated instructions published in the media, the owners of commercial and private motor vehicles are still parking their vehicles on the roadside during the night, instead of parking their vehicles in their assigned parking places. Further, commercial vehicle owners are parking their vehicles at different places other than the parking area mentioned in their permits. The Traffic Police has been receiving complaints against such illegal parking from other road users.
This haphazard and unregulated parking also creates heavy traffic congestion during morning school hours as the owners of such vehicles remove their vehicles at late hours from the road side.
All vehicle owners (commercial as well as private) are again requested to park their vehicles only at authorized parking places instead of using public roads for illegal parking during night, failing which the traffic police will initiate strict legal action which will include clamping and also if required towing their vehicles to nearby Police Stations.
Enforcement drive against violations of the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act & Rules framed there under will be carried out w.e.f. 11/02/2015.
