Port Blair, Feb 08: Six years old Sahiba suffering from heavy diabetes, blood infection, showing symptoms of blood cancer & kidney failure, has become the first patient to be covered under Andaman’s newly introduced health insurance scheme, ANISHI.
Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh had announced the launch of ANISHI, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Scheme for Health Insurance, in his 2015 Republic Day Speech.
Although modalities of ANISHI has not been finalized yet but considering the serious health conditions of the six year old patient and financial condition of her parents, the Health Department considered her case as first case of ANISHI, under which a patient is entitled to get cashless treatment at JIPMER, Puducherry. The decision was taken after intervention of the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Daughter of Abdul Khadar, a DRM in APWD, Sahiba, the patient was airlifted today from Port Blair for Chennai, from where the patient was sent to JIPMER Puducherry in an Ambulance. The ANISHI also covers airfare of the patient and one attendant.
Till last report poured in the six year old girl has been admitted in JIPMER, Puducherry. Meanwhile, Lt. Governor has also directed the Raj Niwas Puducherry to keep a track on the treatment of the little angel.
