Port Blair, Dec 23: The State General Secretary (BJP), A&N Islands, Shri Deepak Kr. Jha has impressed upon the Lt. Governor the need for creation of post of Counselor (Psychologist) in different departments for appropriate handling of victims of depression, harassment, suicidal attempts etc in schools and other organizations.
In a letter to the Lt. Governor, a copy of which was released to the press today, Mr. Jha said such instances are noticed even in public/govt. offices, but, according to him, the sufferer does not complaint due to fear and shame.
He sought the intervention of the Lt. Governor and requested him to immediately pass an order for creation of the post of Counselor (Psychologist) in the Education Department, Directorate of Social Welfare, District Jail, Juvenile Home and Police Department which are directly concerned with the subject.
