Port Blair, Dec. 23: During recent Parliament Session, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands raised the issue of Installation of Dish Antenna for internet connectivity and for facilitation of Computer Literacy Programme in the schools of A & N Islands. Replying his unstarred question, Smti. Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of HRD informed that 43 Schools have been covered under Literacy Programme and 41 schools of A & N Islands facilitated with internet connectivity through the Dish Antenna. Further, in response to the question of availability of internet connectivity in the Secondary and Senior Secondary (Govt. and Govt. aided) school of A & N Islands, the Minister informed that this project is being implemented under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme through the State Govt./UT Administration. Hence approval of projects under the scheme is subject to submission of viable proposal by the State Govt. /UT Administration.
The MP has appealed to the Administration for submission of appropriate proposal to the ministry for availability of internet connectivity in all the Secondary and Senior Secondary (Govt. and Govt. aided) Schools of A & N Islands, a press note from MP Bhawan said here today.
