Port Blair, Dec 21: Rotary Club conducted an Oral Hygiene & Dental Care screening for the students of class VI and VII of Kendriya Vidayalaya No.1 on 20th December, 2014. Before the screening Dr. Dinesh, Dental Surgeon & President Rotary Club of Port Blair observed a moment of silence for the Peshawar school students massacre in which about 132 kids were killed and there after interacted with students of KV 1 on how to maintain oral hygiene.
174 students was examined 31 Dental carious cases, 23 extraction cases, 3 RCT’s, 3 Orthodontic and 12 scaling cases were detected during the screening procedure. All were advised to go for treatment at the nearest Govt. Hospital at the earliest to prevent further complications.
Snehesh Dinesh of SRM Dental College, Chennai gave a power point presentation on scientific way of brushing, which included oral hygiene and Dental prophylaxis, after that an interactive session was also held with him. Mrs.C.Raji, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Aberdeen Bazaar thanked the Rotary club for conducting the programme, welcome speech was given by Mrs. Diana Dipti student counselor of the school. The overall oral hygiene among the students wasfound to be satisfactory as noticed by Dr.Dinesh, Dental Surgeon. Mrs.C.Raji, Principal said this was due to frequent health check up done at school and they also have an in school Staff Nurse attached with Kendriya Vidyalalya.
