Port Blair, Dec 17: Heath assessment camp for children with special needs held today on 17th Dec,2014 at Vivekananda stadium, Diglipur. This programme was organized by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), under AIDP Scheme in collaboration with ALIMCO.
Mr. V T R Reddy DEO Diglipur and the Programme Coordinator welcomed to all the dignitaries present on the occasion. He briefed the aims and objectives of the assessment Camp and distributed Aids & Applinces to the CWSNs. The Aids included 4 wheel chairs, 12 hearing aids, 2 hand stands, 2 walking stands which are provided free of cost to CWSNs Mr. S K Mahanta, Manager, ALIMKO speaking to Andaman Sheekha said that as per RTI act 6-14 yrs should not be left without studying.
“We along with Ministry of social justice and empowerment and Dept of Disability affairs works for CWSN and assess for the needs of the children and provides rehabilitation aids and appliances hearing aids and appliances, visually handicap related instruments and mentally retreaded needs provide to them so that all these children can reach school and study. We also provide them follow-up after providing these instruments,” he said.
“We provide them Zero of cost as this is Centre and State collaborative programme in which the appliances values 60% subsidy of the aids and appliances ministry of social justice and
empowerment and 40% aid provided by Ministry of human resource development through SSA of the respective states. We make assessment of CWSN and help to get the disability certificate than we provide aids and appliances. The Students also get financial help from the Social welfare Department. The Dedicated local Administrative personnel help us to provide better facilities to these students,” he added.
CMO, CHC Diglipur, Ophthalmic Asst.,IED coordinator,and SSA Staff participated in this camp.
