Rangat, Dec 07: Reports of abuse of official powers and misuse of government vehicle by a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) have come to light from Rangat in Middle Andaman. Sources claim, the CMO, utilizes the Ambulance of the Rangat Community Health Centre, for personal tasks like pick up and dropping his spouse posted at Sabari School.
“The Ambulance is meant to provide services to needy patients of the region. But, the driver of the vehicle is regularly seen dropping and picking up the wife of the CMO from Sabari School, where she is posted as a teacher. This is blatant abuse of official powers by the CMO and criminal wastage of government money. There have also been instances when the ambulance was not sent to attend serious patients. Instead, it was used for personal use by the CMO,” claimed sources.
The Chief Medical Officer of CHC Rangat has denied the allegations when contacted. “Only occasionally it goes to pick up my wife not daily,” the CMO told Andaman Sheekha but school students and villagers claims the Ambulance trip to school as a daily affair.
