Port Blair, Dec 02: As a part of Navy Week Celebration 2014, a social evening followed by Barakhana was hosted by the Naval Component Commander of Andaman & Nicobar Command on 29 Nov 14. Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command was the Chief Guest and the event was attended by personnel from sister services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration and civil dignitaries.
The social evening was a mixture of performance by dance groups and orchestras. A group dance was performed by local talent from DNA Dance Group and the AAN Musical Group amazed the guests with their spectacular orchestra. The Naval Band enthralled the guests with their spectacular performance.
A few events are also planned as part of Civil-Defence interaction during Navy Week Celebrations i.e. Blood donation camps, visit to Naval Museum and Ross Island for public/school children, Visit to Naval ships, harbour cruise for Senior citizens and visits to orphanages. Our fellow islanders are requested to participate in these events.
Navy Day is celebrated on 04th Dec every year to commemorate Indian Navy’s contribution towards the 1971 victory.
