Port Blair, Nov 24: A Mock drill on disaster preparedness was conducted by the School Disaster Management task force of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Port Blair, on Saturday. The Coordinator of the drill Shri Bright and sailesh trained the students about the safety measures to be taken during earthquakes. The drill began with the ringing of the alarm bell at 10 AM. Students acted promptly and responded according to what they were taught in the session. First they followed the safety norms and came out of the class rooms and proceeded towards the evacuation route to reach to the safer places.
The members of the task force rushed into the class rooms, searching the injured students, lifting and bringing them to the assembly ground where they were given first aid. The Resource persons of the task force pointed out the mistakes committed by the students during the drill.
Addressing the students in the follow up session the Vice Principal of the School Smti Hepsi Shanta asked the students to always keep in mind the safety measures to execute it successfully in the case of any disaster. She sought the help of the senior students to create awareness about this, among the small children of the primary section also. The school conducts such type of drills regularly.
