Port Blair, Nov 19: Renowned Qawwal Warsi Brothers will perform on 22nd November 2014 at ITF Ground during Virasat – a Cultural Festival being organized by the Department of Art & Culture on 22nd and 23rd November 2014 at ITF Ground at 6 p.m. in association with INTACH, Cultural organizations, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre and Department of Tourism.
Warsi Brothers, Grandsons of Padamshree Aziz Ahmed Khan Warsi are famous Indian Qawwals consisting of brothers Nazeer and Naseer Ahmed Khan Warsi, along with accompanists. Their ancestors were royal classical singers of King Nizam of Hyderabad and the Mughal Court. They are recognised specially for their traditional Sufiana Qawwali, Ghazal, Thumri, Bhajan and Classical Bandish Warsi Brothers jointly received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for their Contribution to Qawwali.
During the two-day festival, a choreographic presentation by artists of these islands will be presented on 22nd November 2014 before the Qawali presentation. Flea Market would also be organized by the Department of Tourism as an additional attraction during the two-day cultural festival.
