Port Blair, Apr 03: The Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has regularised the services of twenty two contractual employees of the Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti who are working in the Samiti for the last 10-15 years.
The decision to regularise their services was taken to provide incentive to the employees of the Samiti who are working at inaccessible, remote and difficult areas in the Tribal Reserve areas. The decision has been taken as the administration is fully committed for the welfare of all tribes and protection of the Jarawa tribe in particular. The officials of Tribal Welfare Department as well as AAJVS posted in the Jarawa tribal reserve have been asked to be extra cautious and to keep strict vigil when the convoys pass through Jarawa tribal reserve and to ensure that outsiders do not interact with the tribals when they camp near the Andaman Trunk Road passing through the Jarawa tribal reserve. This has put added responsibility on the staff of AAJVS who will now get a proper pay scale and annual increments with all other benefits as applicable to regular Govt. employees. This will also enhance their professional enthusiasm which will go a long way in protecting the interest of our tribal population.
