Port Blair, Oct 30: Believe it or not, a complete road stretch at Garacharma has gone missing under dirty drain water. Situation is so bad that for nearly 50 mtrs, the road is completely invisible.
According to villagers the road, going towards colony, opposite to the Garacharma PHC, from main road, remain inundated by drain water throughout the year.
Residents had complained about this to the Chairperson of South Andaman Zilla Parishad in several occasions but the road was neither repaired nor was any effort shown to divert the drain water away from the road.
Former Chairperson of Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Mrs. Abla Samadder, had once visited the area and assured to take up the matter but assurance remained as only assurance.
“We have lodged several complaints but no one really care about us. Everyone including children are force to cross this road to reach to the main road. Are we living in hell,” said an resident of Garacharma.
