Port Blair, Oct 30: The A & N Administration is developing a coir cluster at Rangat in the name of M/s Rangat Coir Cluster Development Society (Shivapuram-Panchayat), Middle & North Andaman District under scheme titled “Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI)”. Land has also been allotted by A&N Administration at Padmanapuram village, under Rangat Teshil for establishment of Common Facility Centre.
Three Mobile Fibre Extraction Machine have been received by Coir Board Ministry of MSME, GOI. The Administration has provided two Mobile Fibre Extraction Machine to the Common Facility Centre, Rangat and one Mobile Fibre Extraction Machine to Industries Training Centre, Car Nicobar. The Mobile Fibre Extraction Machine will be utilized for extraction of Coir Fibre Coconut Husk. The coir fibre obtained is an essential raw material for Coir Yarn & its value added products like Coir Mats, Coir Carpets, Coir Matting, Geo Textiles, Coir Bricks and Coir Handicrafts etc.
The Common Facility Centre, Padmanapuram, Rangat will commence to extract Coir Fibre from Coconut Husk from 31.10.2014. Shri. A. K. Trivedi, Assistant Commissioner, Rangat will inaugurate in the presence PRI Members, industries department officials & other allied department’s officials.
The Coir Fibre will be utilized by the trained Coir Workforce which has been trained at Coir Centre, Industries Training Centre, Bakultala and had advanced training from Kerala. This will provide ample employment opportunities to the local unemployment youth.
