Port Blair, Oct 13: An old Indian tourist, from Rajasthan, was hit by an auto at Ghantaghar, near Tillai Bakery today at 2 pm. As per the reports available here, the old lady was walking with her son and daughter, when a speedy auto lost control and hit her. The old lady had landed Port Blair this morning with her family, it is learnt.
According to eye witnesses the lady went unconscious and her head was bleeding badly. She was immediately rushed to hospital by the people in another auto. According to hospital sources the lady suffered grievous head injuries.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the auto driver, identified as Firoz, escaped from the location as soon as he saw police vehicle. The auto driver reportedly left his auto in a remote location and went underground. Police team have very efficiently identified the auto driver, a resident of Velluvar Nagar, and launched a search operation.
