Port Blair, Sept 09: The International Literacy Day was celebrated at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sabari Junction on 08th September, 2014 in a befitting manner. A week long celebration was carried out by conducting various competitions like “Spell Bee, Jingle making, Poem writing, Essay writing and Elocution” among the students. The Day was observed with this year’s theme ““Literacy and Sustainable Development” to promote literacy rate in our country and to make people aware about their Educational Rights.
A special programme was conducted on the day and the students presented a skit on “Importance of Education”. The Principal, GSSS Sabari Junction distributed the certificates to the winners of various competitions and also appreciated the winners and other participants for their active involvement. He also encouraged the students and teachers to promote education among all with a popular quote “EACH ONE TEACH ONE”. At the end of the programme, Smti. Shama Khalid,GTT, coordinator of the programme proposed the vote of thanks.
