Port Blair, Sept 02: The Member of Parliament today visited G B Pant Hospital with media persons and interacted with patients.
After interacting with patients, the Member of Parliament, interacted with the Medical Superintendent and Director of Health Services. Addressing media the Member of Parliament said that in 2010 -2011 the Government of India had introduced a scheme to conduct medical test for five major health problems viz related to heart, kidney, liver, brain etc. for every Indian.
He said that the Administration has not only failed to implement the scheme in Andamans but also given a false reply to parliament that such medical tests were already conducted.
He requested the Administration to implement the scheme in these Islands immediately and conduct health check up for these major health issues by outsourcing.
The MP also said that under Mediclaim policy people in New Delhi are getting financial benefit for treatment but people of these Islands are not getting such benefit.
“Let people of these Islands get medical cover of Rs. 5 Lakh every year. In a reply to Parliament the Administration has said that Mediclaim has been implemented in Andaman. Has it been done?,” the MP questioned.
