Port Blair, Aug 12: Mr. A R Marudhavanan the State Organiser of DMK has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to provide better facilities to the passengers in Mainland bound ships.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor Mr. Marudhavanan said that the passengers travelling by mainland bound passenger Ships are facing a lot of problems during their travel. He added that passengers have cited a number of problems relating to the quality of food being served, cleanliness of the passenger dwelling area and supply of water for toilet and bathing purposes.
“The food quality in the ships has deteriorated a lot according to the passengers. The canteen staffs are arrogant and have no ears to listen. Cleaning of the deck and the bunk area has not been witnessed by the passengers during the voyage. The Most horrible condition is of water supply in Toilets and Bathrooms. Water is supplied to bathrooms and toilets only for one hour in the morning, for one hour in the afternoon and for one hour in the evening,” Marudhavanan added.
