Port Blair, Aug 08: South Andaman District Special Police team has solved a blind cheating case within hours and apprehend two persons known to be habitual burglars who had cheated a lady by posing them to be officials from Anti-Corruption unit.
On 01/08/14 a case u/s 419/420 IPC was registered at PS Aberdeen on the complaint of SmtiSomiaKachap R/o Phoenix Bay wherein she stated that in the evening of 1st August 2014, one unknown person came to her residence posing as Anti-Corruption official and threatened to take her to a Police Station for enquiry. Later he has took her all gold ornaments and advised the complainant to be remain in her house till the arrival of lady police officers from the police station and fled away.
Soon after registration of case, the District Special Police team comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, constables AshishMallick, Mohd Imran, M. Raja Rao and Nagveni swung into action and gathered information about the cheater. Thereafter all the habitual offenders of the area were analyzed and their records were checked as per description roll. After analyzing the roll, night long raids were conducted at different places and finally the police team succeeded in apprehending a person namely Ganesh (30) yrs R/o Nayasahar, Tsunami Shelter,) who matched the description of the offender as given by the complainant.
The apprehended persons was interrogated and he confessed his guilt and disclosed that he committed the said crime in connivance with one PrabhakarMallick (38) yrs. r/o Austinabad. The stolen gold ornaments have been recovered from the possessions of both accused persons. Both accused person were arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
