Port Blair, July 22: With the objective of discouraging the scourge of encroachments, the Tehsildar, Ferrargunj, in a fresh initiative has undertaken an encroachment eviction drive. During the eviction drive carried out on 21/7/2014 and 22/7/2014 an area measuring 0.40 Hects out of Sy.No. 76 classified as Grazing land and an area measuring 0.01 Hects. out of Sy. No. 66 classified as Govt. Revenue land has been recovered from the illegal occupation of encroachers at Shoal Bay village under the jurisdiction of Rev. Inspector Circle No.1.
The eviction drive shall continue in other R.I. circles during the forthcoming days. The people have been cautioned to abstain from any attempt to encroach precious Govt.land or else it shall be dealt with strictly in accordance with law. The Patwaris, Chaudharis and Chowkidars have been directed to keep strict vigil in their respective jurisdiction in order to foil any attempt of encroachments by unscrupulous elements.
