Magisterial Inquiry into Death Due To Negligence
Port Blair, Mar 28: Lt. Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has sanctioned one lakh rupees to the next of kin of late Patrick DungDung, resident of Port Mout who met with a road accident in Chouldari and later died due to reported non-availability of timely medical care at the PHC, Chouldari. The accident occurred on 27 March 2012 and the patient was hospitalised in a critical condition but no doctor was present in the PHC. District Magistrate (SA) has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the aforesaid incident. The inquiry is being conducted by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman and the report will be submitted within four days.
