Port Blair, July 17: Spicejet airlines flight (S274) from Chennai had aborted landing at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, today after its pilot spotted a Stray Dog on the runway. The incident has exposed the inability of the airport authority to control the stray animal menace.
According to the Sources, the pilot spotted the animal on the runway around 11:30am and he announced the passengers that due to an animal in the runway there will be a delay in landing, he aborted the landing and carried out a go-around to land some 1 hr later, sources disclosed.
Highly placed sources told Andaman Sheekha that the flight tried twice to land but both of the times the flight came close to the runway but did not land, third time the flight landed. It is learnt that second time the pilot could not land because of tail wind.
