Port Blair, July 15: In order to enhance the number of MBBS seats from the Central Pool quota for the benefits of the aspiring students of A&N Islands, the Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray met the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harshavardhan, further the Secretary, MH & FW and the Joint Secretary Medical Education, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare recently.
A release issued by MP office today said that following request from the Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, allotment of MBBS seats from the Central Pool to A&N Islands, was enhanced from 15 to 18 in 2003 by the NDA Govt. lead by Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and most of the MBBS seats were allotted in the reputed colleges at mainland. Subsequently, during the UPA Govt, the allocation of MBBS seat was gradually decreased from 18 to 15 in 2012 and 13 seats in the year of 2013.
