Port Blair, May 28: The Integrated financial Adviser to the Andaman and Nicobar command(ANC) and the staff of the Additional Controller of Defence Accounts department hosted a farewell function to the outgoing Commander in Chief, Andaman and Nicobar command(ANC), Air Marshall P K Roy at Port Blair on Wednesday.
Addressing the Defence Accounts personnel, Air Marshall P K Roy complimented the initiatives taken by the department to disburse the salary payments and other benefits to the defence personnel through their bank accounts in prompt manner. He also hoped that soon the defence personnel will operate their salary accounts through mobile or phone banking. He added that the Defence accounts department since its inception in 1951, grew strength by strength and at present extends its services not only to the defence forces within India, but outside also, wherever our forces are deployed for various UN missions and to fulfill other commitments towards international obligations.
Appreciating their valuable support to the armed forces, he advised them to take necessary steps to make their services more prompt and efficient by making the file movements between the departments faster.
Recollecting the memories of his distinguished career in Air Force, Air Marshall P K Roy said he studied in the prestigious Sainik School and changed his uniform from Khaki to Blue after joining the Air Force.
The commander in chief also visited the Information Kiosk installed at the office to provide the status of various bills and other matters with the accounts department. He also desired that such Kiosks may be installed at the command headquarters and other important Unit centres, so as to facilitate its access to all the ranks at their places of posting.
Earlier, the Integrated Financial Adviser (IFA), P L Negi welcomed the outgoing Commander in chief who retires on 31st this month.
The Coast Guard Commander, Inspector General K Natarajan, the Additional Controller of Accounts, Anil K Kokate and other Senior officers from the command and the staff of the accounts department attended the farewell.(PIB)
