Port Blair, May 27: The issue of removal of trees standing dangerously on private land, revenue land or any other land belonging to the Institution, Organization, Department and posing threat to life and property, has been raised in various fora in the Administration.
In order to resolve the matter, it has been decided in the meeting convened by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on 27.08.2013, that upon declaration of a tree dangerous to life and property by the Sub Divisional Magistrate under Section 133 Cr PC, it shall be the responsibility of the respective land owning agency/ person in whose land such trees are standing, to remove them at their cost and risk with the prior approval of the SDM concerned, until further orders, the Deputy Secretary (Environment & Forests) said in a press note.
