Port Blair, May 27: Intensifying the action against clandestine commerce in wildlife, the South Andaman District special team has recovered huge quantity of deer horn, turbo shell, dear skin, crocodile oil/fat on 25thMay evening. Two persons have been booked under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
On the basis of an information, a police team comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HC Surya Narayan, HC Sanjay Kujur, Constables Rakesh Toppo, Ashish Mallick, Mohd. Imran & M. Raja Rao,under the supervision of DySP (SA) Mohd. Aslam, intercepted one person named Sukhranjan Haldar (50) yrs., r/o Chouldari in an ambassador car bearing Regn. No. AN01/C-1600 from which one Dear Horn, one Turbo shell (a banned nautilus shell), one crocodile teeth and a bottle containing 300 ml crocodile oil/fat were recovered. On questioning, he disclosed that he has brought the above items from one Saurab Biswas r/o Harbattabad for selling in the contraband market for a commission. The police recovered 29 nos. dear horn, 10 nos. turbo shell (Nautilus shell), 14 nos. crocodile tooth, one dear skin and 5 ltrs. of crocodile oil/fat from Saurav Biswas (38) yr. All items have been seized and the two persons booked under Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
Both accused persons were produced before the Hon’ble Court from where they have been remanded to Judicial custody.
