Port Blair, Apr 27: Three persons have been arrested by South Andaman Police for committing theft of gold coins from Dollygunj area. Altogether 14 gold coins worth around Rs.4 lakh have been recovered from them.
On complaint of theft in one Shrabani Mallick’s house at Govt. Residential Quarters, Dollygunj on Apr 21, 2014, a police team of PS Pahargaon led by SHO Insp. L.S. Yadav and SI RK Mazumdar under the supervision of DySP (SA) Mohd. Aslam immediately launched investigation. Initial leads pointed to involvement of the complainant’s maid. On questioning, the maid Sujatha confessed her guilt and disclosed that she had sold the stolen gold to two persons. The stolen property were recovered from the receivers.
All three accused namely Sujatha Banerjee, 26, R/o Atlanta Point, Chandrika Ganguly, 32, Pvt. Worker, r/o Austinabad and R. Marimuthu, 46, owner of RM Muthu Money Lender at Mohanpura were arrested on Apr 23 in case FIR no.50/14 dated 22/04/14, U/s 381/411 IPC and produced before the Court from where they have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days, a communication from the SP, SA said here today.
