Port Blair, Apr 10: Andaman and Nicobar Islands have recorded an overall voting percentage of 70.77 till end of polling in all the Islands. In 2009 the polling percentage in A & N Islands was nearly 64. After a politically intense campaign, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are voting for electing its next member to Lok Sabha today, where the principal fight is between Congress and BJP.
As per details Car Nicobar Island recorded maximum percentage of voting, which is 82.65 while Nancowry Group of Islands recorded 79.50 percent. Diglipur recorded 79.48.
Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands recorded least voting turn out, which is 64.26. As many as 386 Polling Stations have been set up by Election commission of India for a total voting population of 2,69,360.
“The voting percentage of Nicobar Group of Islands is very encouraging,” Mrs. Rina Ray, the Chief Electoral Officer of A & N Islands Constituency told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ today.
Election is being conducted in Andaman in very peaceful manner, there is no report of any violence till late afternoon.
