Port Blair, Mar 13: 28-year-old Tirupati, resident of Baratang, has become the latest victim of drunken driving in city. Tirupati was out on Wednesday mid-night when the car he was driving over speed suddenly
lost his control and hit at Pole and then building of Relax Bar at Nayagoan.
The car was being driven by Tirupati, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Tirupati died on the spot before he could be taken to Hospital.
The Right side of the car was completely damaged. From the condition of the car it is easy understand that the car was travelling at a very high speed. Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the car was moving
very fast and the driver lost control after hitting a pole.
Andaman is now where close to learning a lesson. Drinking and driving seems to have become a habit and the lax laws are not doing anything to help the situation.
Meanwhile, In what can be described as a tragic road accident, a bike rider is stated to have met with an accident near Coffee Bagicha at Sippighat today afternoon. According to Police sources, the incident occurred when Shri Shiv Narayan (Shivi), 45yrs, s/o Shri Ramesh Chander, r/o Aberdeen Bazaar might have lost control over his bike and collided head on with a telephone pole. An auto driver shifted the injured person to PHC Garacharma and subsequently referred to GB Pant Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
