Port Blair, Mar 11: The National Environmental Awareness Campaign 2014 was organised in Crescent Public School, Wimberly Gunj in which various awareness programmes were conducted. The students of the school performed street play in Nayapuram village creating awareness about the importance of cleanliness and proper disposal of waste and garbage to protect the environment. Apart from the play, a quiz competition and exhibition on biodiversity of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a painting competition were held in which 200 students participated.
In the valedictory function, a seminar on Biodiversity Conservation was organised in which more than 200 students participated. Prizes for winners in various competitions were distributed by Mr Gopal, Coordinator, CPR Environmental Educational Centre, Port Blair and Mr Debkumar Bhadra, Technical Officer, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism.
