Port Blair, Mar 09: With the announcement of General Elections – 2014 by the Election Commission of India, Election to the Parliamentary Constituency of A & N Islands will be held on 10th April 2014.
In order to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections and to take preventive measures in pursuance of the Election Commissions instructions, all the license holders of Arms and ammunition under South Andaman District are hereby required to deposit their licensed arms with the nearest Police Station within 7 days from the date of the Press Note.
The Police Authorities will issue proper receipt of the deposition of Arms and Ammunition. The Arms and Ammunition will be returned to the licensed holders after one week after the declaration of the results of the Election.
All the Arms license holders are directed to comply with this order.
The Arms license held by Forest Department and Bank Security personnel are exempted from the above order, a communication from the District Magistrate, South Andaman said here today.
