Port Blair, Mar 02: As a part of National Science Day celebration, a Trekking expedition cum nature walk was organized for the students of Greeno Eco Club, GSSS Sabari on 28.02.2014. 20 selected Greenos and 4 teachers participated in the trek programme which was flagged off from Panchwati by Shri S K Halder, Forest Ranger. Principal of the school also blessed the students on the occasion. He added that taking guided nature walks is a great opportunity for children to discover the wonders of nature they might not otherwise see. These experiences help children develop observation skills, learn science and make deeper connections to the natural world.
The 12-km trek route from Panchwati to Rampur via Panchawati hills spread over 3 hours was organized to create environmental awareness and to inculcate the feeling to love, protect and care Mother Nature.
The trekkers were guided on the route by the forest officials of the Middle Andaman Forest Division. On the way, the Greenos were briefed about the bio diversity of Panchwati Hills.
On completion of the trek Shri Bency Joy, Eco Club Incharge thanked the forest officials for taking initiatives in organizing the trek. The greenos and teachers also pledged to conserve Mother Nature and our rich bio diversity
