Port Blair, January 30: A large number of people from the Islands during their travel to mainland prefer to stay in the Andaman Bhawans in the three metro cities at Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi. Taking into consideration the long demand from various sections of people including political leaders, Lt Gen (Retd), A K Singh, Hon’ble Lt Governor of A&N Islands has approved the reduction of room tariff in all the three Andaman Bhawans located at Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi, thus giving a 50% relief in room tariff to the islanders. People of the Islands will now have to pay only Rs 500/- as room tariff instead of Rs 1000 /-charged presently. The reduction of room tariff from Rs 1000/- to Rs 500/- for the islanders is for the first 7 days. Thereafter, the room tariff will be doubled. Besides, permission is required from the competent authority for stay for more than 7 days in these guest houses.
