Port Blair, Jan 28: A Private tourist boat namely “Aqua Marine” capsized in the sea off Port Blair on Sunday evening and 21 tourists lost their life. Few lives could be saved due to appropriate timely rescue operations by the DHS, Doctors, nurses, paramedical staff of G.B. Pant Hospital, Police Department, Coast Guard personnel, Directorate of shipping services, president and members of Chamber of Commerce and the general public.
“I, appreciate and express my heartfelt thanks to all the departments/organizations and general public who participated actively in the rescue operations. I also express my heartfelt thanks to the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands for his timely action for the airlifting of all the dead bodies with in a period of five hours to mainland and releasing compensation to the relatives of deceased,” Mr. K Ganeshan the Chairperson of PBMC said here today.
