Nimbudera, Jan 22: It has been observed that forceful halting of trucks carrying LPG cylinders in Middle Andaman region by the residents of Middle Andaman area, has become a daily affair. In last one week atleast trice Trucks containing LPG cylinders for Diglipur region were halted by the residents of Middle Andaman.
According to reports in Middle Andaman region there is heavy shortage of LPG Cylinders because since last two months the concerned authority could not send sufficient number of LPG Cylinders for these areas.
In this regard when last time the Panchayat Pradhan of Basantipur Smti. Malati spoke to CCS authorities they assured that within Dec 20, 2013 sufficient number of LPG cylinders will be issued for Middle Andaman region but till date the promise is not fulfilled. Finally on 17 January 2014 a group of villagers halted the LPG truck, going for Diglipur, at Billygorund Bazaar.
Similarly yesterday two trucks containing LPG Cylinders for Diglipur were halted again by villagers of Nibudera area. These are indications of growing unrest among the villagers of middle Andaman region, who are now struggling to get even one LPG Cylinder on time. This is high time for the Administration to wake up and ensure that sufficient number of LPG Cylinders reach all the Islands on time as these remote villagers may become violent in future, because of need.
