Port Blair, Jan 20: The Islanders Social Movement for Awareness and Training (ISMAT), a women’s organisation, actively working for the social upliftment of women and children recently organised an Ad Campaign Competition on the occasion of the first anniversary of ISMAT-AASRA, a shelter home for girls run by ISMAT.
Six schools from Port Blair participated in the competition in which Kendriya Vidyalaya – II represented by C.S Yamini, Pooja Ghangal, Shifana Sherin, Preeti won the Best Ad Campaign trophy. KV-II also won the Radio Jingle and TV Advt Competition. The winners of Print Advt category was the students of Govt Girls Senior Secondary School.
The winners were presented cash prizes and certificates.
Mrs Beena Madhukumar, Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair was the Chief Guest of the function who spoke on the importance of empowering women and girls and appreciated the students for their performance.
The competition was judged by Mr Sanjib Kumar Roy, Editor, Andaman Sheekha, Mr Joji Simon, Ad Designer and Zubair Ahmed, Editor, The Light of Andamans. The judges also guided the students about the concept of advertising.
Earlier, Mrs Mahwesh Jadwet, President ISMAT welcomed the gathering and Rubina Khatib Siddiqui, General Secretary, ISMAT gave a brief introduction about the activities of ISMAT and ISMAT AASRA. Sajida Zubair compered the programme and Mrs Rafat Siddiqui proposed vote of thanks.
